Program Instructor
General Scope of Duties:
Under the direct supervision of the QMRP/Program Coordinator provide personal assistance, instructs n, assessment and overall supervision of individuals in assigned training areas, e.g., personal care, vocational development, social skills, and leisure activities. Assist in developing individualized goals and objectives, preparing training materials, documenting progress reports, and recording behavioral program information. Implement recommendations in accordance with the Individualized Service Plans and confer with the Program Director and Program Coordinator regarding individual progress.
Responsibilities:
Direct Services
1. Instruct, train, assess, .aide, support and supervise individuals in assigned area.
2. Supervise lunch, break periods, arrivals and departures, and other areas as assigned.
3. When necessary, assist individuals with personal needs such as transferring, toileting, eating, and/or grooming.
4. Utilize job/task analyses and/or behavior management techniques when applicable to train individuals on assigned tasks.
5. As applicable, provide transportation to persons served.
6. In conjunction with the Interdisciplinary Team, develop and implement a habilitation program to maximize the person's independence in all environments, including assessments of that person's present skills, and developing independent living skills necessary for successful integration into the community, including the possibility of vocational placement in a workshop or community setting.
7. Provide natural learning opportunities, encouraging the person to be as independent as possible, at work, and during recreation or leisure activities.
8. Serve as positive role model for the person.
9. Perform other duties and responsibilities, as assigned.
Program Implementation
1. Implement recommendations made by the Interdisciplinary Team in accordance with the Individualized Service Plans.
2. Assure that individuals in assigned area are participating in all phases of their program, e.g., job readiness training, work skills, therapy, recreation, training, leisure, and social skills at scheduled times.
3. Assist in developing training materials including task analyses and instructional guides.
4. Function as a team member, enlisting the cooperation of both persons served and staff in performing job duties. 5. Maintain assigned area in a safe, clean and orderly condition in an effort to provide an atmosphere conducive to instruction and training.
6. Develop and maintain an inventory of supplies, equipment, task analyses, instructional guides, and training materials for assigned area.
7. Attend scheduled staff meetings and interdisciplinary team meetings as requested.
8. Assist Support Services personnel (occupational and physical therapists, nurses, social workers, speech therapists, etc.) in implementing and carrying out group or individualized programs.
9. Provide or implement instruction/training for speech/language goals and OT/PT goals if applicable by area.
Documentation and Reporting
1. Record production data and other data on progress through the use of the agency data sheets, behavioral charts, and worker evaluation forms.
2. Record daily attendance as assigned.
3. Report to the Program Director or Program Coordinator/QMRP, any specific needs or potential health or safety hazards.
Personal and Professional Development
1. Participate in departmental or agency in-service training and continuing education programs to improve skills required of the position.
Qualifications:
1. High school education or equivalent preferred.
2. Experience working with persons with developmental disabilities preferred.
3. Must be able to perform CPR/First Aid.
4. Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs.
5. Willingness to transport clients in own vehicle if applicable.
