PARC is all decked out thanks to Pi Kappa Phi

PARC is in the news once again. PJStar reporter Brian Feldt wrote a wonderful article about PARC's partnership with the men of Pi Kappa Phi and Push America entitled "Backyard project more than just a deck."

On Saturday, May 3, 2008 the men of Bradley University’s Pi Kappa Phi Fraternity showed their commitment to individuals with developmental disabilities by building a wheelchair accessible deck and ramp at PARC's Baskin Ridge Group Home in Peoria. This was the fourth deck project that the men of Pi Kappa Phi have teamed up with PARC to build.

While many college students were sleeping in, the men of Pi Kappa Phi came with hammers in hand, goodwill in their hearts, and over $1,000 worth of lumber to build the deck. The deck project is a part of Pi Kappa Phi’s Push America philanthropy which works to enhance the quality of life for people with disabilities by completing accessibility projects.

Pi Kappa Phi, with their national philanthropic organization Push America, focuses on building leaders of tomorrow by serving people with disabilities today. Push America and PARC share the vision of enhancing the quality of life for people with disabilities.

In addition to the 22 Bradley Students of PI KAPPA PHI  ~ PARC wishes to extend thanks to the men of PI KAPPA PHI who droved down from Chicago to help with the project: Mike Coons, John Fischer, and John Waldmueller. Thanks also to PARC's Wayne Stogsdill for all of his hard work in coordinating this project.

Members of Pi Kappa Phi work year round with PARC, providing funds and manpower, to help create a barrier-free society for people with disabilities. Along with fundraising for Push America, chapters of Pi Kappa Phi are encouraged to volunteer and raise awareness on behalf of people with disabilities.

We are grateful to the members of Bradley’s Pi Kappa Phi and to Push America for their support of our mission. Continued support from the community is PARC’s most important means of enhancing and strengthening the many programs and services we offer to children and adults with developmental disabilities. THANK YOU MEN OF PI KAPPA PHI!
