Be a Champ and Give on Boxing Day!
Boxing Day is the day after Christmas. No, Boxing Day does not come from the need to rid the house of empty boxes the day after Christmas. Nor does it refer to pugilistic expositions. The holiday originated in Victorian era Britain when the rich would box up gifts of cash and durable goods and bring them to those in need. The Christmas carol Good King Wenceslas sings about giving gifts of flesh, wine, and pine logs to a poor man on St. Stephen's Day.
Celebrate Boxing Day and be a champion for PARC by purchasing something for PARC from our PARC Wish List, giving a PARC Presence, volunteering with PARC, or donating your unwanted gift items.
Perhaps you got a gift card from a store you don’t frequent or maybe you don’t want to stand in a long return line. You can give to PARC and still get a tax deductible donation in for 2007!
What a great extension of the Christmas holiday spirit. Start a new tradition in your family by keeping the spirit of Boxing Day alive. To learn more about how you can help PARC, please contact Sibylle LaHood at (309) 689-3608.
